Job Title: Sterile Processing Technologist
Job Summary:
The Sterile Processing Technologist is responsible for the efficient cleaning, sterilization, assembly, and distribution of medical instruments and equipment. They play a key role in preventing infections and ensuring the safety of patients and staff.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Inspect, clean, disinfect, and sterilize medical instruments and equipment.
2. Assemble instrument trays and packs according to specific instructions.
3. Monitor and operate sterilization equipment, such as autoclaves and ultrasonic cleaners.
4. Maintain accurate records of sterilization processes and equipment maintenance.
5. Distribute sterilized instruments to appropriate departments in a timely manner.
6. Follow infection control protocols and safety guidelines.
7. Assist with inventory management and supply ordering.
8. Participate in continuing education and training programs.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician (CRCST) preferred.
3. At least 1 year of experience in sterile processing.
4. Knowledge of medical terminology and infection control practices.
5. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
6. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
7. Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
8. Ability to lift and move heavy equipment.
9. Proficiency in using sterilization equipment and computer systems.
