Job Title: RN Oncology
Location: Coos Bay, OR
Shift: Days 8 hours (40 guaranteed)
Duration: 13 Weeks
Job Summary:
The RN Oncology is responsible for providing specialized nursing care to cancer patients. They work closely with oncologists and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive care and support to patients and their families throughout their cancer treatment journey.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for cancer patients.
2. Administering chemotherapy and other cancer treatments as prescribed by the oncologist.
3. Monitoring patients for side effects and complications of cancer treatment.
4. Educating patients and their families on the disease process, treatment options, and self-care practices.
5. Collaborating with other healthcare providers to develop and implement individualized care plans.
6. Providing emotional support and counseling to patients and their families.
7. Documenting patient care activities and maintaining accurate medical records.
8. Participating in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient progress and treatment plans.
9. Ensuring compliance with infection control protocols and safety standards.
10. Keeping abreast of new developments and research in oncology nursing.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Valid RN license in the state of practice.
2. Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
3. Certification in Oncology Nursing (OCN) highly desired.
4. Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in oncology.
5. 2 years oncology experience- REQUIRED
6. Chemo experience- REQUIRED
7. Must be willing to float to the outpatient infusion clinic
8. Ability to work flexible hours and handle stressful situations with professionalism.
