Job Title: Med/Surg Nurse
Location: Glens Falls
shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM 24 hours guaranteed 36 hrs scheduled
Duration: 13 weeks
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Med/Surg Nurse to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing direct and individualized nursing care to patients in a busy medical-surgical unit. This role requires critical thinking, superior communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans
2. Administer medications and perform various treatments as prescribed by physicians
3. Monitor and record patient vital signs and medical history
4. Educate patients and their families on disease prevention and management
5. Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans
6. Maintain accurate and detailed patient records
7. Assist with diagnostic tests and procedures
8. Ensure compliance with all healthcare regulations and standards
9. Provide emotional support to patients and their families
10. Participate in staff meetings and continuing education opportunities
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Valid RN license
2. Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
3. Minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical-surgical setting
4. Excellent clinical skills and knowledge of medical-surgical nursing practices
5. Ability to multitask and prioritize patient care responsibilities
6. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
7. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances
8. BLS and ACLS certification
9. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
10. Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) systems
