Job Summary:
The Sterile Processing Tech is responsible for the cleaning, sterilization, and preparation of surgical instruments and equipment in healthcare facilities. They play a critical role in preventing infections and ensuring patient safety during surgical procedures.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Clean, decontaminate, and disinfect surgical instruments and equipment.
2. Operate sterilization equipment such as autoclaves and ultrasonic cleaners.
3. Inspect instruments for damage and wear, and perform necessary maintenance.
4. Assemble instrument trays and equipment sets for surgical procedures.
5. Maintain accurate records of sterilization processes and equipment maintenance.
6. Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and regulations.
7. Assist with inventory management of sterile supplies.
8. Collaborate with healthcare staff to meet the needs of surgical procedures.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Certification as a Sterile Processing Tech (preferred).
3. Knowledge of sterilization techniques and equipment.
4. Attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions.
5. Strong communication and teamwork skills.
6. Ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
7. Physical ability to lift and move heavy equipment.
8. Knowledge of infection control protocols and regulations.
