Job Summary:
A Phlebotomist is responsible for the collection and preparation of blood samples from patients for laboratory testing. They work in a variety of healthcare settings and play a crucial role in diagnostic testing and patient care.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Collect blood samples from patients using venipuncture or capillary puncture techniques
- Label and store blood samples properly for testing
- Follow strict safety and quality control procedures to ensure accurate results
- Communicate with patients and healthcare providers to ensure proper sample collection
- Keep accurate records of patient information and test results
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment
- Assist in other laboratory tasks as needed
Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a phlebotomy training program
- Certification from a recognized phlebotomy organization (e.g., CPT, ASCP)
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
