Job Title: Labor and Delivery Nurse
Job Summary:
A Labor and Delivery Nurse is responsible for providing care and support to women during childbirth. They work in the labor and delivery unit of a hospital or birthing center, assisting with the delivery process and ensuring the safety and well-being of both mother and baby.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Monitor the progress of labor and assist with the delivery process
- Provide emotional support to mothers and their families
- Administer medications and pain relief as needed
- Assist with newborn care immediately after birth
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure a safe and positive birthing experience
- Educate mothers on postpartum care and baby care
- Document patient information and maintain accurate medical records
Qualifications and Skills:
- Current RN license
- BLS and ACLS certification
- Experience in labor and delivery nursing preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm and focused in high-pressure situations
- Knowledge of neonatal care and breastfeeding support
- Attention to detail and strong observational skills
