Job Title: Sterile Processing Technologist
Job Summary:
The Sterile Processing Technologist is responsible for cleaning, sterilizing, and preparing medical instruments and equipment for use in surgical procedures. They ensure that all instruments are properly sterilized and maintained in accordance with regulations and standards to prevent infection and ensure patient safety.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Perform cleaning, decontamination, and sterilization of medical instruments and equipment.
2. Inspect instruments for damage and functionality before sterilization.
3. Assemble instrument trays and packs for surgery.
4. Maintain accurate records of sterilization processes and instrument tracking.
5. Monitor and operate sterilization equipment.
6. Follow infection control policies and procedures.
7. Assist with inventory management and ordering supplies.
8. Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure proper instrument usage and handling.
9. Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
10. Participate in continuing education and training programs.
Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Certification in Sterile Processing Technology preferred
- Knowledge of sterilization techniques and infection control standards
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to lift and move heavy equipment
- Knowledge of medical terminology and surgical procedures
