Job title: Registered Nurse - Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
Job Summary:
As a Registered Nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, you will be responsible for providing specialized care to newborn infants with medical complications or premature birth. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to monitor vital signs, administer medications, and provide emotional support to families during a challenging time.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Monitor and assess the health status of critically ill newborn infants in the NICU.
2. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
3. Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop and implement care plans.
4. Educate families on newborn care and medical procedures.
5. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records.
6. Monitor and maintain medical equipment in the NICU.
7. Provide emotional support to parents and families during their infant's hospitalization.
8. Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current on neonatal care practices.
9. Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures to ensure patient safety.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Valid RN license in the state of practice.
2. Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
3. Previous experience in a neonatal intensive care unit preferred.
4. Basic Life Support (BLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required.
5. Strong communication, teamwork, and critical thinking skills.
6. Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-stress environment.
7. Attention to detail and a strong commitment to patient care.
8. Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
