Job Title: Med-Surg RN - 7p-7:30a
Job Summary:
As a Med-Surg Registered Nurse (RN) working the night shift from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality, compassionate care to adult medical-surgical patients. Your primary responsibility will be to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care within the framework of organization policies and nursing standards. This position requires excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as a part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and formulate individualized nursing care plans.
- Administer medications, treatments, and interventions as prescribed by physicians and monitor their effectiveness.
- Recognize and respond to changes in patient conditions, collaborating with the healthcare team to provide appropriate interventions.
- Document all patient care activities accurately and comprehensively.
- Maintain patient safety by adhering to infection control policies, medication management protocols, and other established nursing practices.
- Promote patient education and support their involvement in decision-making regarding their health.
- Serve as an advocate for patients, ensuring their needs and rights are upheld.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with physicians, fellow nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Assist with the management of the unit, coordinating patient admissions, transfers, and discharges as needed.
- Actively participate in quality improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a medical-surgical nursing setting.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Excellent clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work effectively under pressure.
- Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based nursing practices and patient safety principles.
- Proficient in using electronic medical records (EMR) and documentation systems.
