Job Title: RN - Labor and Delivery
Job Summary:
The RN - Labor and Delivery (L&D) provides professional nursing care to patients during the labor and delivery process. They are responsible for monitoring the mother and baby during childbirth, assisting with labor and delivery procedures, and providing support and education to new parents.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Monitor maternal and fetal vital signs during labor
2. Assist with childbirth procedures, including epidurals and c-sections
3. Provide emotional support and coaching to mothers during labor
4. Educate new parents on newborn care and breastfeeding techniques
5. Document patient progress and update medical records
6. Adhere to hospital policies and procedures for labor and delivery
7. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Valid RN license in the state of practice
2. Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
3. Certification in Labor and Delivery Nursing (L&D) preferred
4. BLS and ACLS certification
5. Previous experience in labor and delivery nursing
6. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
7. Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment
8. Knowledge of childbirth procedures and complications
