Job title: Registered Nurse - Labour and Delivery
Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse in Labour and Delivery is responsible for providing care and support to mothers in labor, assisting with the delivery of babies, and caring for both mother and newborn after delivery. They must be able to assess and monitor the health of both mother and baby, administer medications, and provide education and support to new parents.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Monitor fetal heart rate and contractions during labor
2. Assist with the delivery of babies, including hands-on support for the mother
3. Provide postpartum care to both mother and baby
4. Administer medications as ordered by physicians
5. Educate new parents on newborn care, breastfeeding, and postpartum recovery
6. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for mother and baby
7. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Valid Registered Nurse license
2. BSN or higher degree in nursing
3. CPR certification
4. Prior experience in labor and delivery preferred
5. Strong assessment and critical thinking skills
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
7. Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-stress environment
