Job Title: RN Psych (Registered Nurse - Psychiatric)
Job Summary:
As an RN Psych, you will provide care and support to individuals experiencing mental health issues. You will work closely with patients, families, and a multidisciplinary team to assess, diagnose, and treat mental health disorders. Your role will involve administering medications, providing therapeutic interventions, and implementing care plans to help patients achieve optimal mental health.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' mental health status
2. Collaborate with psychiatrists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to develop individualized treatment plans
3. Administer medications and monitor their effectiveness and side effects
4. Provide counseling and psychoeducation to patients and families
5. Monitor and evaluate patients' progress towards treatment goals
6. Document all patient interactions and treatment plans in accordance with regulatory standards
7. Respond to psychiatric emergencies and provide crisis intervention as needed
8. Advocate for patients' rights and ensure their safety and well-being
9. Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Valid RN license in the state of practice
2. Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
3. Experience in psychiatric nursing or mental health setting
4. Strong assessment and communication skills
5. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and stressful environment
6. Knowledge of psychotropic medications and their administration
7. Certification in psychiatric nursing (PMH-RN) preferred
8. Compassion, empathy, and patience in dealing with patients with mental health disorders
