Job Title: Physical Therapy Assistant
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Physical Therapy Assistant to join our dynamic healthcare team. As a Physical Therapy Assistant, you will collaborate with licensed physical therapists to provide individualized treatment plans and assist patients in their journey towards regaining optimal physical mobility and function. Your role will involve supporting patients during therapy sessions, implementing exercise programs, monitoring progress, and maintaining accurate documentation.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Assist licensed physical therapists in evaluating patient conditions and establishing appropriate therapy goals.
2. Implement therapeutic techniques and exercises as directed by the physical therapist to promote recovery and improve overall well-being.
3. Communicate with patients and their families to ensure comprehension of therapy plans and maintain a supportive environment.
4. Monitor patients' responses to treatment and provide necessary feedback to the physical therapist for adjustments.
5. Document patient progress, session updates, and treatment plans accurately in compliance with clinic regulations.
6. Administer therapeutic massages, electrical stimulation, traction, and other modalities as prescribed.
7. Guide patients in the correct use of therapy equipment to achieve optimal results and prevent injuries.
8. Develop and revise treatment plans in collaboration with the physical therapist based on patient responses and goals.
9. Educate patients and their families on exercises and home care techniques for continued progress outside of therapy sessions.
10. Adhere to professional standards, legal regulations, and best practices in the field of physical therapy.
11. Maintain a clean and organized therapy environment, ensuring proper sanitization of equipment.
12. Continuously update knowledge and skills by participating in seminars, workshops, and professional development opportunities.
13. Collaborate with fellow healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and effective patient care.
14. Provide emotional support and encouragement to patients throughout their rehabilitation journey.
15. Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Associate's degree from an accredited physical therapy assistant program.
2. Valid state license or certification as a Physical Therapy Assistant.
3. Solid understanding of human anatomy and common physical disabilities.
4. Demonstrated ability to implement therapeutic techniques effectively.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to connect with patients, colleagues, and their families.
6. Strong documentation and record-keeping abilities.
7. Physical stamina and dexterity to assist patients in their therapeutic exercises and movements.
8. Compassionate and patient-centered approach towards individuals with diverse needs.
9. Active listening skills to understand patient concerns and adapt therapy plans accordingly.
10. Ability to work independently, as well as part of a collaborative team.
11. Proficient computer skills to maintain electronic records and utilize therapy software.
