Job Title: Registered Nurse - Psychiatric
Job Summary:
As a Registered Nurse specializing in psychiatric care, you will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients with mental illnesses or disorders. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to develop care plans, administer medications, provide therapy, and monitor patient progress. Your role will be crucial in providing compassionate and specialized care to individuals in need of mental health support.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Conduct thorough assessments of patients’ mental health status
2. Develop and implement individualized care plans
3. Administer medications and monitor for side effects
4. Provide therapy and counseling to patients
5. Monitor and document patient progress
6. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care
7. Educate patients and their families on mental health conditions and treatment options
8. Respond to crisis situations and provide support as needed
9. Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients
10. Adhere to all relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards in psychiatric care.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Valid RN license in the state of practice
2. Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) preferred
3. Certification in psychiatric/mental health nursing (PMHN) a plus
4. Prior experience in psychiatric nursing preferred
5. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
6. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment
7. Excellent assessment and critical thinking skills
8. Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care
9. Ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team
10. Knowledge of psychiatric medications and treatments
