Job Title: Histotechnologist
Job Summary:
As a Histotechnologist, you will be responsible for performing complex histological procedures to prepare tissue samples for microscopic examination by pathologists. You will play a crucial role in the diagnosis and treatment of various diseases by ensuring accurate and high-quality tissue processing.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Embed tissue specimens in paraffin blocks for sectioning
2. Operate microtomes to cut thin tissue sections for mounting on slides
3. Stain tissue sections with various dyes for microscopic examination
4. Perform special staining techniques as required
5. Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure proper calibration
6. Prepare reagents and solutions for tissue processing
7. Keep detailed records of all procedures and results
8. Assist pathologists in the interpretation of slides
9. Adhere to quality control and safety protocols
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Biology, or related field
- HT (ASCP) or HTL (ASCP) certification
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in histotechnology
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently under pressure
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Knowledge of histological techniques and equipment
