LICENCE RENEWAL

  • Renewal cadence: Biannually in even numbered years. Renew online Oct 1-Dec 31.
  • Renewal fee: $135
  • Required contact hours: 400 hours of employment as a nurse or 30 hours of continuing education
  • If you receive your initial credential in the months leading up to the renewal period, you are still required to renew your license during the renewal period.

Important Things to Know

  • The most common reason for delays in application processing is not providing the requested documents. Review your Message Center in the nurse portal to ensure no additional documentation is necessary.
  • Your application is valid for 12 months. If incomplete after 12 months have passed, your application will be discarded and you must reapply and repay the application fee.
  • All card transactions have a $5.00 processing fee. Only debit and credit payments are accepted.

Licensure by Endorsement

Process

Permanent License

  1. Submit an application online and pay the fee.
  2. Request verification of licensure via Nursys from your original state of licensure and the state where you are currently employed. If you still hold an active license in your exam state, only that state’s license verification is required. If these states do not participate in Nursys, you will need to contact that state’s BON and request verification be sent to the Wyoming BON via the LPN-RN Verification Form.
  3. Provide a background check with fingerprints. Instructions for fingerprinting can be found here.
  4. Request official transcripts with degree posted and date awarded to be sent directly to the Wyoming BON from the school where you graduated.

Temporary License

  1. If you wish to be issued a provisional license, please indicate this on your application. 
  2. Temporary permits are valid for 90 days and are non-renewable.
  3. Once all items have been received by the BON except the results of your background check, you may be issued a provisional license.
